Special Dates in the Kuna Region
Kuna Revolutions: 19, 20, February 21, Kuna celebrations in the Town of Ailigandi the Kuna Revolution of 1925: corn, beer, celebration of puberty for a girl from the town.
This refers to the events from 1925, when Kuna Indians rebelled from the Panamanian authorities who forced them to westernize their culture by force. During this revolution the Republic of Tule was proclaimed, but it lasted little time. When the region returned to Panama, the territory was recognized as the Comarca of Kuna Yala Indians, guaranteeing the safety of the kuna population and culture.
You are all welcomed to commemorate the Tule Revolution with the kunas. The festivities start from February 1 to February 21 each year at Ailigandi Community.
