Dad Ibe Island Lodge is a small & friendly lodge built in a little island of Kuna Yala
When you visit us we want you to feel at home, and at ease. There are no stuffy rules, or inflexible timings. So leave your watch in your room, kick off your shoes, enjoy the warm white sand and the clear blue water.
In our lodge you will take off your shoes, relax and take a meal listening to the sea sounds and learn more about the indigenous culture that reign in the " Comarca" and Caribbean islands of the Kuna Indians in Panama
Dad Ibe lodge offers a unique combination of Kuna Indians tradition and great comfort, with the peace and calmness of the surroundings, in the privacy you are looking for.
Read a book while you relax, hear natural sounds and visit the Kuna Community to buy the famous and International " Molas" and know a little more about our traditions.
In this harmonious and comfortable environment, you can get a first hand experience of History, traditions and habits of the local culture.
You can sneak a siesta (Spanish for nap) in the hammock hut, or just spend some time relaxing on your own private hammock, reviewing the day's photos from your digital camera

Location





Dad Ibe Cabins are located on a private Island with the same name. Located close to Ailigandi community, district number 2 and 10 minutes from the airport of Mamitupu or Achutupu on Air Panamá or Aeroperlas. Once you arrive to the Airstrip, hotel personnel will be there waiting for you. This private island is located at approximately 50 minute flight distance from Panama City, in the Republic of Panama. The travel to the lodge takes about 10 to 15 minutes by boat.
Builded in the center area of San Blas, the hotel offers an unsurpassed view of the Caribbean Sea from all the sides of the Island and also a view of Panama’s Caribbean Mainland and Mountains. Dad Ibe lodge is one of the newest and original Lodge in the Kuna Yala Research area.
The Kuna Yala territory is a band of rainforest that extends for 125 miles along the Caribbean coast between Panama City and the City of Colon.
Take an early flight from Panama City to the Achutupu or Mamitupu Airstrip. Meet our Kuna local guide, and travel by boat across the calm lagoon waters to Dad Ibe Island Lodge.

 Lodge/ Rooms
 Dad Ibe Island Lodge is composed by 3 Bungalows/ Huts structures made out of wood and covered with thatch.
 Dad Ibe is reflective of native design: rustic, authentic and comfortable.
 3 hut with private bathrooms and showers.
 All huts are built with typical materials of the zone.
 Water is provided 24 hours in the bathrooms and showers
 Each hut is equipped with 2 beds, bathrooms, hammock and a lamp
 Each bathroom is equippe d with sink, shower, toilet, toilet paper, soap and towel.
 Developed to minimize the environmental impact, the structure was designed with the same natural material as the local communities: seeds, leaves, fiber, lianas, sticks, etc. Besides the rich raw material, the project optimizes natural researches as light, ventilation and acoustic isolation

The restaurant is located over the water with an excellent view of the Caribbean Sea, the mountains and others islands surrounding Dad Ibe Lodge . Dad Ibe Restaurant offers a variety of both local and tropical food and beverages. Especially if you are looking for sea food, this is the place that you want

Price for children: Children under 4 years of age are free in the lodge, they only have to pay $7.50. extra because of Kuna territory tax. Children 5-12 get a 35% discount, children above 12 pay as adults.

Activities






ACTIVITIESIn Dad Ibe you are going to learn about our Culture and History. The tours that we offer in our package are:

1. Ailigandi Community: You are going to observe the everyday life in the community and the architecture of our Houses. You will going to see the congress house (Onmaket Nega) where the community members hold their daily meetings and sing traditional and religious sound. In Ailigandi we also have a Hospital, is the only one of the region with doctors. You will also can buy some handicrafts and the famous Mola.

2. Naka and Ogobwili Beaches & Cainora: One of the attractions of our area of Kuna Yala, is the uninhabited islands covered by white sands

3. Birds and wild flora, river and burial sites: You will able to observe a variety of birds from different regions.

4.Kuna Dance or Noga Kope
The Kuna Dance is a cultural legacy with a metaphoric meaning. These dances recreate animal, wind, ocean and river movements, creating a bond between mother nature and the kuna people.

We find multiple musical instruments being used for kuna dances, being currently executed in traditional dances

Know the distinctive Caribbean jungle vegetation located in the Kuna Area, including trees, birds and forest.
Visit surrounding unoccupied islands, where you can sit, relax and have for a good time in an island just for you.
Visit to the Kuna Indians Community of Ailigandi. One of the most historic Kuna village where the Kuna Revolution was held. View the Kuna Museum (entrance cost of $1) and enjoy the hospitality of the Ailigandi Kuna Citizens


Tule Revolution on February This refers to the events from 1925, when Kuna Indians rebelled from the Panamanian authorities who forced them to westernize their culture by force. During this revolution the Republic of Tule was proclaimed, but it lasted little time. When the region returned to Panama, the territory was recognized as the Comarca of Kuna Yala Indians, guaranteeing the safety of the kuna population and culture.

Artisanal Fishing
Artisanal fishing is a type of fishing activity that utilizes traditional techniques with little use of technology. It is practiced in small canoes is coastal zones fishing a variety of fish species, seafood molluscs and crustaceans . Price U$ 20.00***
